Photo by Marc C. Lee, Contributing Writer, Plane & Pilot Magazine. Marc says, "I decided to trudge out of bed at 4:30 this morning to go to the airport and take my old gal up to watch the very first sunrise of the new decade of the 21st century. My wife and kids were still visiting my mother-in-law back East so I had the rare combination of time and opportunity. Here is a wide-angle shot of my view from the cockpit of my GL, watching the sun come over over the calm waters of Lake Mathews, near Riverside, CA. It was FREEZING... :) What a fantastic airplane for such adventures!" |

The Great Lakes is not being manufactured at the present time. We hope to place the Great Lakes Model 2T-1A back into production sometime in the near future.
Future plans call for the airplane to be offered with either a Lycoming AEIO-360 (180 horsepower) four cylinder, horizontally-opposed engine, or a Warner R-550 (185 horsepower) seven cylinder radial engine. There are numerous changes in store for the new production Great Lakes; changes to make the airplane more fun to fly, easier to fly and maintain, and retain its value.
If you are a current Great Lakes owner, our plans include recovering, overhaul, update, and repair services for your Great Lakes and its engine and propeller. During overhaul, your Great Lakes may be modified with all the latest improvements coming out on new production airplanes.
Our latest plans will be posted on this Web site, so check back often. |
